The Brief

International surveyors and property consultants, Cluttons, were being held back by legacy website technology and a rigid CMS that didn’t give the business the flexibility they needed. The ability to implement new features and integrations with ease was vital to dealing with growing customer demands in a market focused on convenience and practicality. 

The redevelopment of the new Cluttons site not only needed to be flexible enough to implement new integrations and functionality but also give the Cluttons team the freedom to build their own pages and content. This new approach needed to also work in cohesion with new brand guidelines and offer consistency across the whole platform (including current and future sub-sites)

Our solution

Working alongside Cluttons’ design partner for this project, Industry, we developed a bespoke WordPress site, fully utilising Gutenberg blocks. Among the many reusable blocks that we built was a dynamic grid component that accepts a range of other blocks within it. These child blocks, albeit with distinct functionality and data sources, fit harmoniously by assuming a visual design pattern contextual to their siblings. 

To cater for automatic property updates, we integrated several property APIs to retrieve data from multiple sources – doing so reduced manual labour and ensure consistency of information. Alongside a more advanced site-wide search using Elasticsearch, we employed multiple filters and options to create an effortless multi-faceted property search.
